A two-day workshop is going to be held at Kathmandu University titled “South Asian High Energy Physics Instrumentation Workshop on Detector Technology and Applications”. This workshop will be held on June 20-21 in collaboration with European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). The workshop aims to bring together members of the physics communities of South Asian countries to begin a discussion toward collaboration on a facility to be set up for experiments for the scientific community of the region. The organizer aims to bring together the participants from all the countries of South Asia and present their work in the field. The workshop will be held at CV Raman Auditorium, Kathmandu University, Dhulikhel, Nepal.

Particle Physics is one of the most popular fields of research in the present date. The largest hub of particle physicist is at CERN having scientist from more than 100 countries. Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the machine at CERN is the largest machine to have been ever built which needed billions of  US dollars. Particle physicists ask the most fundamental questions of nature.

  1. This workshop should also focus on topics such as cloud teaming which could solve the problems of drought in our regions. As we know the 21st century is going to face fresh water scarcity not only in South Asian region but in whole world. We will have to harness the sea water through cloud forming and teaming. I feel the CERN could help lot in this direction. I have also learn that some valuable research is also going in this direction at CERN.
