Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) organized a program regarding the current challenges for science, technology and innovation in developing countries. Dr. Eduardo Martinez, an expert on Science Technology Innovation(STI) policy and Science Technology Engineering Mathematics(STEM) education was invited as guest speaker. In the program held today, vice-chancellor of NAST, representatives from National Planning commission, Science and Technology Ministry and many other institutions, were present. The seminar held in the premises of NAST lasted for four hours.
Dr. Martinez put forward the areas where the major challenges exist in developing countries. He explained about strategic nutrition and preventive health programme for alleviating nutritional and medical problems in the common people. Organic agriculture and forest management program for the healthy and long-lasting benefit for the present and future generations was also discussed. He further added water program as the strategic method for water management and use through water recycling, rainwater recovery etc. Dr. Martinez also stressed on the strategic development of the information and communication technology.
