2011 Nobel laureate Dan Shectman arrived in Kathmandu, Nepal today. He was awarded the prestigious noble prize in chemistry for the discovery of quasi crystals. He arrived at 6:30 a.m. for the conference to be held in Dhulikhel, Kavre and Tribhuvan University hosted by many scientists and universities.
Quasi crystals have a peculiar type of crystalline behavior. These crystals have definite order but do not show the periodicity. The conference will run till September 23. From more than 40 countries, scientists have gathered to hear the laureate.
